Islamabad, February 21: President Asif Ali Zardari has authorised Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani to contact PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif and seek more time for implementing the remaining points of his reforms agenda.
The prime minister called on the president on Sunday and discussed with him the talks being held by the government on the 10-point reforms agenda and possible implications if the government fails to meet the deadline given by the PML-N.
According to sources, they discussed a statement of the PML-N chief expressing dismay over what he termed the government’s failure to ensure good governance.
The prime minister, according to the sources, also discussed the expansion of his cabinet, especially the naming of a new foreign minister.
The president’s spokesman Farhatullah Khan Babar said the two leaders discussed the political situation.
