To fight COVID-19, PM announces “Janata Curfew” on March 22

Hyderabad: In wake of corono virus pandemic showing its impact on India too, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday announced that citizens of India shall abide by “Janata Curfew” (Public Curfew).

Narendra Modi during his special address to the National appealed to people in India to voluntarily comply Janata Curfew from 7am morning to 9pm by restricting themselves to their homes.

Prime Minister has also appealed the state Governments to enforce the Central Government’s advisory in true spirit. A curfew of the people, by the people, for the people to fight corona virus.

WHAT IS JANATA CURFEW: HERE IS HOW IT WILL WORK

  1. PM Modi urged all the citizens of the country to stay off the roads and public places on Sunday (March 22)
  2. The Janata Curfew on Sunday will start at 7 am and continue till 9 pm.
  3. People working in essential services such as police, medical services, media, home delivery, fire fighting etc will remain exempt from the Janata Curfew.
  4. At 5 pm, all the citizens are requested to encourage the people working in essential services, working in the times of coronavirus, by clapping and ringing their bells.
  5. PM Modi said, “If possible, please call at least 10 people every day and tell them about the ‘Janta Curfew’ as well as the measures to prevent.”
