Hyderabad, April 1: Forbiddance of interest in Islam is not a hidden fact. The person who is born in a Muslim family knows very well that interest is forbidden in Islam, inspite of the fact today a large number of Muslims are indulged in the vice of interest in some way or other.
Though there are several ways of taking interest, however if we look into the business through Rahan centres only, we would find that 80 to 90 percent of the Rahan centres are in Muslim areas. Visit any Muslim area and you will find Rahan centres on every street and lane and you will find majority of burqa clad women among the customers.
When ‘Siasat’ correspondent talked to some of those women several unfortunate and shocking revelations came to the fore. The most surprising aspect is that these women have been doing rounds of the Rahan centres for years without any hesitation.
Another shocking aspect was disclosed that most of them take amount on credit just to show off on the occasion of customs and traditions such as marriage, child’s birth circumcision etc. But not all of them do this for the same reason as some of them cannot get money when they are in need, from their family and acquaintances so they choose to take money from Rahan centres.
The affluent section of the society should think over the issue. Muslims who are well-off can form an organization which can issue loans without interest to the poor Muslims on small scale.
