Plea for infrastructure in Puttaparthy

Puttaparthy, February 15: Weavers United Front Chairman K.A.N.Murthy appealed to district Collector B. Janardhan Reddy to develop infrastructure in Puttaparthy in view of the ever increasing foreign tourists and pilgrims. It has cumulative pressure on the infrastructure available at Puttaparthi. The BT road between Kota Complex and the bus station need widening. Further the R&B had laid foot paths on the western edge of this road which is totally unsuitable for pedestrian walking. This had also narrowed the road where there is heavy bus traffic. Proposals were sent by the Puttaparthi police for removal of this foot path as it was serving the hawkers and the building owners as a platform, Mr. Murthy maintained. ,

Lack of facilities for vendors and hawkers and auto stand is putting pressure on the road thus making the traffic flow very hazardous.

Puttaparthi Panchayat is upgraded to a major panchayat recently in view of the growing population, growing needs and aspirations of the people. But the quality of service did not improve.

Puttaparthi has vital importance as an international spiritual village. Apart from tourists migrants, retired civil servants and professionals aspire to live at Puttaparthi. But there is vast contrast between the Ashram and outside regarding cleanliness and tranquillity.

Efforts, both from the government and general public, should be made towards providing apt infrastructure.
