Plea for Bharat Ratna on PVN

Eulogoizing services of Former Prime Minister Pamulaparthi Venkata Narasimhan Rao, several leaders appealed to the Centre to honour the late leader by confering ‘Bharat Ratna’ on him posthumously. Paying rich tributes to the architect of new india at ‘PV Gnan Bhoomi’ on the Necklace Road here on the occasion of his 91st birth anniversary today, the leaders said Telugus were very lucky and proud of Mr Narasimha Rao, a brilliant son of the soil who becoming the first Telugu Prime Minister and introduced liberal economic reforms ‘that none of his predecessors could do.’ Tamil Nadu Governor Konijeti Rosaiah, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy, Deputy Chbief Minister C Damodar Rajanarasaimha, Legislative Council Chairman A K Chakrapani and several congress leaders paid rich tributes to the late leader. The Chief Minister hailed him and said the government cannot forget the yeoman services of freedom fighter P V Narasimha Rao as the Prime Minister, Finance Minister and the state Chief Minister.

He also said the Former Prime Minister has etched his name as a Gandhian and father of economic reforms.

It was well known the liberation policies were introduced by Mr PV Narasimha Rao and the credit of cable television entering India, too, went to the late Congress leader, Mr Reddy observed. UNI
