Plea for ban on course in Vaastu

Hyderabad, June 14: Protesting against the teaching of Vaastu, astrology and `muhurtam’ courses at the Sri Potti Sri Ramulu Telugu University, Jana Vignana Vedika has demanded that the state government ban the courses “which encourage superstition in students’’.

Speaking to mediapersons here today, TV Rao, the organisation’s state convener, said that people’s science movement was the best way to tackle irrational beliefs and superstitions that were hurdles to development.

He said that Homoeopathy, Vaastu, numerology and astrology were examples of people’s irrational beliefs. He deplored the huge expenses being incurred on reconstructing houses.
