Hyderabad, November 05: A security cover comprising 2,400 policemen would be thrown in and around the Rajiv Gandhi International stadium at Uppal while the fifth One-day International between India and Australia is in progress on Thursday. But players who sneak out without informing the authorities will be left to fend for themselves, Cyberabad Police Commissioner S Prabhakar Reddy said.
In view of the incident of live cartridges being found in the Ferozshah Kotla stadium after the recent India- Australia match, the Cyberabad police are leaving nothing to chance.
Asked about the security of players who sneak out without informing authorities, Prabhakar Reddy curtly replied that in that case they would not be able to do anything.
“Players from any country would behave responsibly. If they choose not to have security and sneak out according to their will, we may not be responsible for their security,” Prabhakar Reddy said.
He urged spectators to park their vehicles at locations specified in their tickets and passes.
The Commissioner also said that they have taken measures to prevent spectators from barging onto the playing arena. “Unauthorised personnel attempting to enter the field would be taken into custody,” he warned.
