Plant 320 cr saplings in 4 yrs: CM

To give a fillip to the flagship program of Haritha Haram, a massive afforestation programfor expanding greenery, Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao today directed the officials to prepare a perfect action plan of four years to plant with 320 crores of saplings across the state.
During a high level review meeting here, the chief minister said that to give impetus to the program across the state a meeting of District Collectors and forest officials will be conducted at MCR HRD Center in the city on May 11.

The officials should focus on planting saplings of fruits in the forests and import teakwood seeds from Burma and Africa to overcome the shortage and create awareness among the people through massive campaign, he said.

The Chief Minister asked the officials to plunge into immediate action by involving people. KCR also directed the officials of the forest and horticulture to coordinate and plant 160 cr saplings each in social forestry and forests. The saplings should be planted on vacant lands, along the stretches of roads and other viable places KCR said. He asked the officials to conduct a massive campaign to make it a big success with peoples’ participation. (NSS)
