Planning Commission treated CMs as beggars: KCR

Appreciating Centre for launching NITI Ayog to provide ample space for all the states to pour in their woes and seek more funds, Chief Minister K Chandarsekhar Rao today alleged that previous Planning Commission used to ill treat the chief ministers seeking funds for development as beggars.

Participating in international May Day Celebrations at Ravindra Bharathi along with union labor minister Bandaru Dattatreya and others KCR accused the previous Planning Commission of treating the chief ministers as mere beggars. Now that the NITI Ayog has included the Chief Ministers as its members to come up with innovative ideas for specific development, he said. KCR stressed the need for encouraging manufacturing sector besides heavy industries of machines and tools to stop importing. He appreciated the BJP led national government for NITI Ayog which is helpful for the states to come up with their demands and appeals. There is a need to encourage big industries and avoid import of heavy machines and tools he said. Promising to coordinate, he asked the Centre to sharpen laws to ensue the workers get better wages and provide more jobs. (NSS)
