Hyderabad, November 18: Aviation Conclave 2010, an international conference and exhibition on aviation sector will be organised by the Aeronautical Society of India (AeSI) at Hotel Katriya in the city from November 18 to 20.
Governor ESL Narasimhan will inaugurate the conclave to be participated by academicians, scientists, airline operators and manufacturers.
Speaking to reporters here today, scientific advisor to the union minister for defence and AESI Hyderabad chapter chairman V K Saraswat said that the aviation sector in India is galloping at the pace of 20 per cent.
However, only one per cent population in the country travel by airlines unlike neighbouring countries like China where 2.5 per cent of the population travel by air. “In this context, it is important to review the current situation in the country for growth of aviation sector.
The conclave is aimed at exploring the possibilities of accelerated growth and sustainability of aviation sector in the country,” Saraswat said.
Saraswat also said that the recent visit of US president Barack Obama turned out to be a major boost for the aviation sector.
He revealed that the Central government is planning to encourage air-travelling and will promote Regional Transport Aircrafts for covering brief distances apart from bringing down the travelling costs. A consortium led by National Aerospace Laboratories (NAL) is supervising the entire project.
The three-day event is being conducted with an aim to bring together the Aviation industry, the airports, airline operators, manufacturers and policy drivers to discuss various key issues to develop Hyderabad into an ‘Aviation Hub’.
Eminent persons like principal scientific advisor to the Government of India R Chidambaram, Prof Roddam Narasimha from Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research, former secretary to the Government of India P Rama Rao will deliver talks during the event.
A large number of scientists, academicians, industry experts and manufacturers are expected to participate in the event.
The outcome of the conclave will be presented to the Central government for its consideration.
