Expressing concern at demonetisation and its adverse affect Telangana Finance Minister Etala Rajender today urged the Centre to see that adequate cash is stocked at the banks and ATMs enabling the people to get their money. He was talking to media persons at Delhi after attending a GST Council meeting chaired by Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley.
Rajender stated that he urged Jaitley to ensure that the people drawn their money from the banks and ATMs which have gone dry and yet to get normalcy. I have stressed on the need for creating awareness among people on digital technology and cashless transactions Rajender said. I have apprised the union finance minister of suggestions made by our chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao that banking system has to be strengthened in the wake of demonetization to cater to the needs of the people with adequate cash flow.
Rajender asked the Centre to increase funding for housing scheme for poor in the states. The banking system has to be made convenient to the common man who is yet to get knowledge of cashless transactions he maintained. He said that demonetization has incurred a huge loss to unorganised sector, real estate and others. (NSS)
