As the ‘water’ crisis snowballed into a major controversy among Telangana and Andhra Pradesh States, which are crossing swords, the Centre has plunged into swift action. The Centre now wants to find an amicable solution by calling a meeting of Chief Ministers K Chandrasekhar Rao and N Chandrababu Naidu very soon.
Union Power Minister Peeyush Goel on Tuesday lost his cool by asking the warring States to stop ‘politics’. Both Telugu States should stop ‘politics’ and resolve the water and power problems through a meeting, he said in strong words. The Union Minister said at Delhi that the two States should avoid ‘politics’ on share of waters and find a suitable solution. He said he would soon call a meeting of both the CMs to find an amicable solution.
The Union minister said he would talk to Chandrababu Naidu on Tuesday itself. It may be noted that Naidu, who is at the receiving end for allegedly trying to come in the way of water supply and power production, a couple of days ago said he asked the Centre to bail out Telangana State with regard to power problem. It is learnt that Goel rang up Naidu to pave way for Telangana to get its rightful share of waters. (NSS)
