Pirated DVDs of latest films seized

Hyderabad, January 24: A man who was selling pirated DVDs of newly released Telugu, Hindi and English movies and also porn movies was nabbed today by the police and more than 1,000 pirated DVDs were seized from him.

Police seized pirated DVDs of newly released Telugu movies like ‘Mirapakaya,’ ‘Parama Veera Chakra,’ ‘Ragada,’ ‘Ranga the Donga’ and others from the accused.

On information, Task Force sleuths raided a shop at Tuljaram complex at Gujrati Galli in Koti and nabbed its owner, Kesari Chand alias Kailash for selling pirated DVDs.

Task Force Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police M Srinivasulu said at a press conference today that Kailash was selling DVDs and VCDs since the past eight years.

“Kailash was purchasing pirated DVDs of newly released movies and also porn movies from Burma Bazar in Chennai and was selling the same here in the city,” Srinivasulu said. Kailash was purchasing the pirated DVDs for `25 each and selling the same for `50 or `75 here.

Srinivasulu said Kailash went to Burma Bazar four days ago and purchased several pirated DVDs. Police recovered 1,165 pirated DVDs including 350 DVDs of newly released Telugu movies, 200 new Hindi movies, 400 English movies and 215 porn movies.

Kailash along with the seized property were handed over to the Sultan Bazar police for further action.
