Lucknow, JUly 13: With Uttar Pradesh government deciding to prosecute BJP MP Varun Gandhi, Pilibhit police may file a chargesheet against the leader in a local court on Monday for his alleged hate speeches made during poll campaign in March.
“As the government has granted prosecution sanction, police may file a chargesheet against Varun under section 153(A)(promoting enmity on religious grounds), 125 of Representation of the People Act and other relevant sections of the IPC,” official sources said in Lucknow.
The state government granted prosecution sanction to the Pilibhit police to file a chargesheet against Varun under section 153(A) and issued an order on July 3.
