Pilgrim numbers swell at Pushkaralu Ghats

DGP Anurag Sharma said that about 8.7 lakh pilgrims took holy dip as part of the Krishna Pushkaralu in Mahbubnagar and Nalgonda till 4 PM on Sunday.

The DGP said that the administration was dealing swiftly with the huge flow of pilgrims rush in the last two days. On the third day of pushkaralu, hundreds of devotees queued up for holy Pushkar bath. The devotees thronged ghats since 5 am on Sunday. The Pushkar Ghats in Nalgonda and Mahbubnagar were filled with devotees.

Tollywood actor Srikanth lauded the state government saying that the arrangements for the Krishna fete were good. The actor, who had pushkar bath at Rangapuram Pushkar Ghat in Pebberu mandal of Mahbubnagar district on Sunday, said that he didn’t face any problem to reach the Pushkar Ghat. He said service of the officials and volunteers was good. He congratulated the Telangana government for making huge arrangements.

Meanwhile, AP Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu said that about 21.96 lakh pilgrims took holy dip as part of the Krishna Pushkaralu fete. In a statement the CM said that the state government has made elaborate arrangements for the benefits of the devotees coming from across the state and the neighboring states.  He said that the officials were monitoring traffic with the help of drones and CCTV surveillance. The state government would distribute about 4 lakh butter milk packets from Monday. (INN)
