Pietersen out as England bats vs. Australia

London, January 23: Kevin Pietersen is out of England’s team for the third one-day international against Australia due to a groin strain, with the tourists winning the toss and electing to bat first.

Paceman Tim Bresnan also misses out for England with a calf injury while James Tredwell was omitted. Their replacements were Paul Collingwood, Luke Wright and Chris Woakes, who will make his one-day international debut.

Australia will be without paceman Shaun Tait and spinner Nathan Hauritz, who picked up injuries in the previous game in Hobart, which Australia won to go 2-0 up in the series.

John Hastings and Xavier Doherty have come in, while Shaun Marsh is set to be elevated up to No.3 in the batting order.
