Hyderabad: Eminent freedom fighter Mr. B. Narsingh Rao inaugurated an exhibition “Madar-e-Watan ko Salam” at the seminar hall, Centre for Urdu Language, Literature and Culture of Maulana Azad National Urdu University today. Dr. Mohammad Aslam Parvaiz, Vice Chancellor, presided over the function.
Mr. Narsingh Rao said that the freedom fighters had to face dual front in the princely states. “They had to carry out the struggle on two fronts, one at the national level and the other at the State level where they lived,” he said. He paid rich tributes to the women freedom fighters who, he said, fought shoulder-to-shoulder along with men.
Dr. Aslam Parvaiz described the exhibition as impressive and said that through Azad Day Celebrations, the University is covering different aspects of social life. “Fight for freedom is not over yet. For example we need to fight on against illiteracy and poverty,” he said. “Has the exploitation of masses ended?” he asked. Among the fights ahead of the nation, were to ensure cleanliness and protection of the environment, he added.
Dr. Ameena Tahseen, Director, Centre for Women studies and coordinator of the event welcomed the guests.
