On the occasion of the 100th birthday of Princess Durru Shehvar, the Turkish daughter-in-law of Nawab Mir Osman Ali Khan, Nizam VII, former ruler of Hyderabad State, a photo exhibition depicting the live and works of the princess is being held today from 11:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Chowmahalla Palace, Kilwath, Ladbazar, near Charminar, Hyderabad. This exhibition has been organized by Deccan Heritage Trust. Princess Asra Jah and Mr. G. Krishna Rao, IAS (Rtd.) have been kind enough to permit to use Chowmahalla Palace for this exhibition.

Princess Durru Shehvar was born on 26th January 1914 in Wayakh Palace in Istanbul (Turkey). This was the period when Ottoman Empire was on the verge of its downfall. In 1924 when she was only 10 years old, the caliphate of Mr. Abdul Majid II came to an end. Mustafa Kamal Ataturk deported him. He was living in exile in Nice (France). She was married to Crown Prince, Azamjah Bahadur, the elder son of Nawab Mir Osman Ali Khan on 12th November 1931. She gave birth to Prince Mukarram Jah on 6th October 1933 and Prince Muffakham Jah on 27th February 1939.
Princess Durru Shehvar devoted all her time for upbringing and educating the two princes. She was a great philanthropist. She participated in various welfare programs. A famous magazine declared Princess Durru Shehvar as the most beautiful women of the world. She was a person of neat and delicate temperament, a glimpse of which could be seen in the collection of her wardrobe. The actresses of Bollywood also used to look at it enviously. The designing and decoration of her garments could form the component of fashion designing and garment decoration. The last trip of Princess Durru Shehvar to Hyderabad was in 2004.
