Popular front of India, a social movement working for the uplift of the downtrodden communities, demanded the state government to implement the 12per cent reservation for Muslims as promised by the chief Minister of Telangana state during the election campaign as well as in the party’s manifesto in the general election 2014.
Syed Moinuddin, state general secretary of the Front, addressing the media at NSS here today, said, they appreciate the concern shown by K.Chandra Sekhar Rao towards the Muslim community assuring 12 per cent reservation during the election campaign as well as in the party’s manifesto. ‘We do appreciate some action carried after coming to power. However, despite being the fact that more than a year has passed since the formation of TRS government no feasible or affirmative actions were carried out towards the Muslims reservation’.
He demanded the government, if it has a firm stand in providing practical reservation to Muslims, to immediately appoint Backward classes commission and ask it to review the states reservation policy in coordination with SC and ST commission, as the proposed reservation will cross 50 per cent cap and necessary data proof to overcome the cap, as it is one of the mandatory variable other that comparative data proof of Muslim Backwardness, with existing BCs, SCs and STs.
In this regard, the Front is organizing a month long campaign from Oct 7th to Nov 7th in order to create awareness among the public of the facts and to pressure the government to provide 12 per cent reservation with the due procedures.
A Poster for this campaign was released today by Janab Amir Ali Khan, News editor of Siasat Daily, Syed Shamshad Quadri, president of All India Muslim think Tank Association and Mohammed Abdul Ahad , State President, Popular Front of India, Telangana unit. (NSS)
