Hyderabad: With the fuel prices soaring across the country, the prices of petrol and diesel reached a new high, breaching Rs 80 and Rs 73 mark respectively on Saturday in Hyderabad. With an increase in petrol price by Rs 1.18 per litre, the cost reached Rs 80.31 taking the hike in price to highest in five years. Whereas diesel prices rose by Rs 1.27 a litre, that took its price to record-breaking Rs 73.07 a litre.
During last eight months, the prices of petrol and diesel across all states have been going up. In August last year, the petrol and diesel price had breached Rs 70 and Rs 60 mark respectively.
A Telangana Today report quoted the General Secretary of Telangana Petroleum Dealers Association G Vinay Kumar as saying “Each day, both petrol and diesel are witnessing an increase of at least 15 paise and this would be more in coming days,” adding that the increasing price will hit motorists as well as other commodities.
The fuel prices that did not witness many fluctuations from petroleum companies such as Indian Oil Corp Ltd, Hindustan Petroleum Corp Ltd (HPCL) and Bharat Petroleum Corp Ltd (BPCL) have again started to steadily increase on daily basis.
