Petition filed in SC for implementation of Sachar Committee recommendations

The delay in implementing the recommendations, submitted by Justice Rajendra Singh Sachar Committee after reviewing the backwardness of Muslim minorities in the country, has created restlessness among Muslims. On one side the government claims to be taking measures for development of minorities and Minority Welfare Ministry has been formed on national level but government’s apathy for implementation of Sachar Committee report has exposed. In this scenario a social worker Noor Mohammad hailing from Raichur, Karnataka, has undertaken the task of fighting for justice of Muslim minority. Noor Mohammed is the first social worker of the country who has knocked the door of Supreme Court demanding implementation of Sachar Committee recommendations.

The public interest writ petition has been accepted for hearing and hearing is likely to be held shortly at the meeting of Chief Justice. The writ petition filed on august 27, 2012 has been accepted for hearing on October 30, 2012. The union government besides 30 state governments have been pitted in the writ petition. After serving notices to the union government and the states, hearing is likely to be held shortly at the meeting of chief justice.

Mr. Noor Mohammed who belongs to Raichur reached Siasat office along with his friends and called on Mr. Zahed Ali Khan, Mr. Zaheeruddin Ali Khan and Mr. Amer Ali Khan and explained them the details of his struggle for justice. This is the first petition filed in Supreme Court for implementation of Sachar Committee recommendations. If the chief justice after hearing the case gives directions to the government for the implementation it will surely be a significant historic verdict.
