Minority Welfare Department has granted permission to hold meetings on the occasion of Friday prayers in Makkah Masjid during Ramadan. As per the orders issued by the department the first and the last Friday have been allotted to Majlis Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM) while the second and the third Fridays have been allotted to Sunni Ulama Board and Majlis Bachao Tahreek (MBT) respectively.
The same sequence of allotting the Fridays for meetings is continued for past several years. This year TRS had requested the government to allot a Friday for the meeting but the request could not be considered because the allotment orders were already issued till then. Some minority leaders with the recommendation of Deputy Chief Minister were said to have submitted the application in this regard.
