People would boycott parties which boycotted bypolls:Stalin

Coimbatore, August 12: The people will boycott those parties, which have boycotted the August 18 bye-elections for five seats, in the next Assembly elections, Tamil Nadu Deputy Chief Minister M K Stalin said today.

Victory and defeat, even losing deposit, were commong in an election and political parties should contest the polls considering the problems of people and also to uphold values of democracy, Stalin said while campaigning for the congress candidate at various places in Thondamurthur constituency.

He said some political parties would make tall promises during the polls but once elections were over, they would forget these promises and neglect the voters.

He said the DMK government, under the leadership of M Karunanidhi, had fulfilled all its promises, including one kg rice at rs.two, which was distributed at rs.one in the last three years. The government had also waived rs.7,000 crore of farmers loans, Stalin said.

Admitting over 300 AIADMK workers into DMK near Ukkadam, Stalin claimed more AIADMK loyalists were joining his party since they were ‘disgusted’ with the functioning of their leaders.
