People supporting rapists are real ‘Dogras’ – ex CM Mufti

Jammu: PDP and BJP’s alliance in J&K had ended abruptly, leading to the fall of Mufti’s government in the region has left scarred and bitter relations between the two parties.

Mufti on Monday spoke on various issues against its former ally that led to her downfall, Indian Express reported.

Referring to the brutal rape and murder of 8-year-old in Kathua district that shocked the whole nation she said those who “carry the Tricolour and support people who have committed a crime with a little girl” only to create a divide between Hindus and Muslims are “not real Dogras”.

BJP MLA & former minister in Mufti’s cabinet Choudhary Lal Singh BJP MLA had floated a “non-political” organisation named Dogra Swabhiman Sangathan. The organization is seen as a front to press for his public support to the call for a CBI probe into the Kathua gangrape and murder case.

While addressing her first rally in Jammu, after stepping down as Jammu’s CM, Mufti said, “What Dogras you are talking about? I want to remind those trying to make it (Kathua case) a Hindu-Muslim issue that a Dogra maharaja had banned the entry of a maharaja of some other state into Jammu and Kashmir since the latter had made certain remarks against a girl. They are the real Dogras, and not those who carry a Tricolour and support those who have committed a crime with a little girl…”

“A rapist is a rapist. He has no religion,” Mufti stated, referring to those ‘Tiranga rallies’ taken out by Hindu Ekta Manch supporting CBI probe into the Kathua case.

The rally was reported led by senior BJP leader which also included two then ministers, Lal Singh and Chander Parkash Ganga, who were later asked to resign.
