Interest to learn Urdu is on the rise but there is dearth of appropriate learning material, said former Additional Chief Secretary, Mr. Chiranjeev Singh at a book release function of ‘Learn Urdu’, authored by Khalid Sayeed, director of Centre for Urdu language, literature and culture, Moulana Azad National Urdu University, here on June 14.
“Urdu is a wonderful language with a vocabulary which is easy to pick-up and has been popular by ghazals and film songs. People from various backgrounds are showing interest to learn Urdu language”, he said.
Mr. Singh urged the All India Urdu Manch and Karnataka Urdu Academy (KUA) to make sure that the book, which is a self learning material, reaches maximum number and people of all ages, who are interested in learning Urdu.
The book was appreciated by Mr. M N Saeed, head of Urdu department, Bangalore University and former chairperson of KUA ; Poonam Kohli, director Punniya publications and Fouziya Choudhary, chairperson, KUA. It is proposed that the book be made available online for retailing and easily accessible to a large number of people through a mobile library.Courtesy:Karnataka Muslims
