The radical right wing organization celebrated Gandhi’s assassination by distributing sweets and dancing on Bollywood songs outside their Meerut office in Uttar Pradesh.

According to Times of India report, septuagenarian Pandit Ashok Sharma, national vice-president, Hindu Mahasabha, said they treated the day like a festival.

“We have been celebrating Mahatma Gandhi’s death anniversary as Shaurya Divas for over five decades now. According to us, Nathuram Godse did all the good he can in his life by killing Gandhi. People might mourn the death of Gandhi, but we will always celebrate this day”.

“Every year we distribute sweets, hire professional bands and invite people to dance to express our happiness at Gandhi’s killing,” The Hindu quoted a senior official as saying.

Sharma further said, “For us, Godse is our martyr who showed courage by killing Gandhi, who divided our country into two parts. While Pakistan is still an Islamic state, India never got the status of a Hindu rashtra
