People may come and people may go, Congress remains for ever: Dy CM

Deputy Chief Minister C. Damodar Rajanarasimha has said that the Congress party was like a perennial river which flows all the 365 days and new leaders continue to join the party even though existing leaders deserted the party. Nothing would happen to the party with the present desertions, he added.

The Deputy CM toured the Prathipadu constituency in Guntur district on Tuesday as part of bye-election campaigning. Speaking on the occasion, Rajanarasimha said that development and welfare programs launched by the Congress governments in the State and at the Centre would ensure victory of the party candidates.

Exuding confidence that his party would bag majority of seats in the present bye-elections, he said that the people have understood why YSRCP Chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy was put behind the bars.

Claiming that there was no sympathy among the people towards Jagan, he pointed out that the bye-elections have arisen only because a few party MLAs left the party leaving the development of the people. He said the Congress was the only party that works for the welfare of Dalits, Minorities and women. The Congress was the party that gave an opportunity to a Dalit to work as Deputy Chief Minister. He has revealed that district-wise meetings would be conducted on the SC/ST Sub-Plan funds after the bye-elections. (NSS)
