At the mega medical camp organised at the Ideal PG college premises here today to mark the voluntary blood donor’s day, Dr Paramahamsa donated blood for the 101st time and S Sekhar 84th time.
Over 200 students also donated blood at the camp jointly organised by the Kakinada voluntary blood donors club, Rotary blood Bank and district AIDS control society. Dr P Chiranjivini Kumary presided over the camp.
Jyothula Venkateswerarao Blood donors club chairman who was the chief guest said their club during the last ten years had supplied 16,500 blood units to the needy patients.
Additional District Medical and Health Officer Dr M Pavan Kumar said according to district population ratio, 52,000 units of blood was required yearly but it was able to secure only 40,000 units through voluntary blood donors.
He advised people to come forward to donate blood and save lives. UNI
