Telangana DGP Anurag Sharma on Thursday suspended Shankar Reddy, a Sub-Inspector of Penpahad police station in Suryapet Sub Division of Nalgonda district, for losing his gun while on a pilgrimage to a temple in Karnataka two days ago.
In a notification, Telangana Addl. DGP (Law and Order) Sudeep Laktakia said that the Sub Inspector had come to Hyderabad for Ganesh procession bandobust duty and later had gone to visit a temple near Yadagiri town in Karnataka two days ago where he had reportedly lost his gun. The gun was traced by the Karnataka police who informed the Telangana police subsequently and the weapon had been recovered.
Suspending the SI for negligence and dereliction of duty the Addl.DGP said disciplinary proceedings would be filed on him after departmental inquiry and stringent action would be taken in this regard. (INN)
