Manchester City football team manager Manuel Pellegrini on Tuesday revealed that he has faith that his side could win the Champions League this season, despite their perilous current position in Group E.
City have managed to collect only two points from their opening three games and trail group leaders Bayern Munich by seven points ahead of Wednesday’s home game with CSKA Moscow .
With second-place Roma also two points better off, City no longer have any margin for error, but Pellegrini believes that getting out of the group should be the English champions’ minimum ambition, Sport24 reported.
Pellegrini said that of course their target is always to try to win the Champions League, adding that they must put in their mind that they are able to do it, that they have a good squad.
The Chilean also said that maybe there are five or six squads better than their squad or at the same level as their squad that also want to do it, but added that with a winning mentality and an ambitious mind, one must always think they can do it.
Pellegrini said that he thinks City has time to prove it.
