Kadapa, March 13: Sri Vidya Manohara Theertha Swamy of Vyasaraja Peetham in Bangalore, who was produced before the Kadapa Judicial First Class Magistrate court by Kadapa police on a non-bailable warrant issued in connection with a case booked under a Negotiable Instruments Act case on Saturday and kept in a Matham in Rayachoti town under the supervision of the police, may continue there until Monday, according to Kadapa Superintendent of Police Tarun Joshi.
Sampath Kumar of Kadapa lodged a complaint against the Swamiji after a cheque for Rs. 19 lakh issued by the Peetham bounced and the Magistrate directed Kadapa police to execute a warrant, the SP said. The Swamiji was permitted to stay in a Matham in Rayachoti and police were keeping a watch until the court’s further directions, the SP told The Hindu. The Swamiji’s lawyer gave an undertaking to arrange payment of the amount to the complainant.
