A 19-year-old girl named K. Swetha, pursuing first year BBM, died after jumping from the third floor of an apartment near Kirlampudi Layout on Sunday .The cause of death might be she was not interested in the management course as she wanted to join the IITS but was not qualified in cracking the entrance test twice. The suicide took place just a day after IIT-B PhD scholar M. Siva Teja, 26, of Hyderabad ended his life at a lodge here on Saturday.
Swetha was a first year student of BBM at the Gayatri Vidya Parishad college. Swetha was the second child of KS. Challam, Assistant Commissioner in the commercial tax department and K Krishna Kumar, a medical staffer at the NFU hospital.
At around 3 am on Sunday when her family was asleep ,Swetha jumped from the balcony of their flat . She died on the spot with severe head injuries. The incident came to light when one of the residents found a body lying on the ground .
Sub- Inspector Hari Babu said that Swetha was a psychiatric patient, and was undergoing treatment with a well known psychiatry professor Dr M.S.N. Reddy of Hyderabad.
According to Sub-Inspector, they found a suicide note in which the girl apologised to her parents, and said that she could not perform well in the presentation. A case has been registered by the police under Section 174 of IPC. Swetha’s body was shifted to King George Hospital later in the day for post-mortem.
