Mumbai, August 12: Aamir Khan produced flick ‘Peepli Live’ is set to be released across the globe on August 13.
The film, which is written and directed by Anusha Rizvi, stars several cheechako. Naya Theatre company member Omkar Das Manikpuri has been playing famous character Natha in the movie along with Raghuvir Yadav, Naseeruddin Shah, Nawazuddin Siddiqui Shalini Vatsa and Malaika Shenoy.
The film is based on a satire on the farmers’ suicide. The film portrays the migration of lives from villages to cities. The film raises the response of Media and political over the widening gap between Rural India and urban India.
However, the movie is based on several burning issues in the country but it has been awarded ‘A’ certificate by the Censor Board due to use of abusive languages.
The title of the film Peepli Live has been taken from a small Peepli village in Orissa while Raghubir Yadav, who plays a character of Budhia is also inspired by the World’s Youngest Marathon runner Budhiya Singh.
Before the release, the film has already received huge acclaimed and competed in the Sundance Film Festival, the first film from India to achieve this feat.
The songs of the film has already gained popularity. Aamir Khan has used folk songs of Chhattis Garh and MP to get the feel of backward Indian villages and their apathy.
Folk song ‘Chola Mati Ke He Ram’ and ‘Mehngai Dayan’ have topped the music list. However, the song ‘Chola Mati Ke He Ram’ was originally written and sung by a noted folk singer of Chhattisgarh Gangaram Siwar.
The shooting of the film was held in Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and New Delhi. The adivasi community of Bhadawi village in MP has also introduced in the movie to provide the real touch.
