HYDERABAD: A 45-year-old pedestrian at Shamsheergunj in Shahalibanda is crushed in a freak accident as an auto crashed into him on Sunday.
Jangaiah, a rice mill worker and a resident of Venkatapuram in Pahadishareef, was crossing the road at 10:45 am near the Axis Bank ATM at Shamsheergunj. The overloaded auto hit Jangiah after doing a wheelie for some distance. Jangiah fell on the ground and died on the spot.
Shahalibanda sub-inspector K Prathap Reddy said.”Jangaiah was crossing the road and the auto was overloaded. After the auto hit him, he fell on the ground and his head hit the road. He died on the spot due to the impact.”
Police said at the time of accident Mohammed Mehathabuddin the auto driver was driving from Falaknuma towards Shamsheergunj with passengers seated on either side of the driver’s seat. Two women were also seated in the rear seat. The passengers escaped from the scene unhurt.
The whole incident was captured by a CCTV camera. The police have verified the footage and booked a case against the auto driver who was not having a driving licence. He was booked under section 304-A (causing death by rash or negligent act) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
