Peace restored to the city; day curfew lifted

By and large condition remained peaceful in the city on Friday. No untoward incident occurred in curfew areas during relaxation. Commissioner Police Hyderabad Mr. Anurag Sharma following a meeting with the top police officials of the city by lifting the day curfew from today, announced relaxation of curfew from 6 am to 8 pm and issued prohibitionary orders by enforcing section 144 in 31 police stations of the city.

On the occasion of Friday police remained vigilant in all areas of the city especially in old city and patrolling was intensified before and after Friday prayers. Makkah Masjid and Sayeedabad areas were transformed into police barracks. In view of Friday Rapid Action Force and other police staff were also deployed.

Police heaved a sigh of relief as no untoward incident occurred in the city on Friday.

On the other side the special investigation team probing the Madannapet and Sayeedabad communal riots have arrested 7 including 3 Muslim youth and sent them to jail.

Task force teams raided houses in Dr. Zakir Husain Colony late at night to arrest Muslim youth but returned empty handed following protest against police action.
