Hyderabad, January 26: Peace must continue to prevail in order to sustain development in Andhra Pradesh, said Governor ESL Narasimhan, in his speech on Republic day celebrations.
The remarks of the Governor assume significance in the wake of ongoing agitations for the past two months on Telangana separate statehood.
“I appeal to all sections of the society in the state to ensure peace and harmony so that the strides we made in development and welfare could be sustained and the peace progress could be sustained,” Narasimhan said.
He said people should work for an equitable and just society with a sense of brotherhood and love in hearts.
Speaking on the achievement, he said the IT exports from the State are expected to reach Rs 36,000 crore this year as against Rs 32,000 crore last year. He hoped that the figure would reach Rs 69,000 crore by 2012 creating opportunities for 12 lakh jobs.
The Governor, who is a retired IPS officer, lauded the efforts of the State police in containing Maoist movement. He said the State became trend setter in handling the extremism threat in the country.
