Peace impossible without Islam: Geelani

Srinagar, November 23: The Hurriyat conference (G) chairman, Syed Ali Shah Geelani, today alleged that the rulers are “enforcing” immoralities onto the society.

“If someone says that Islam and politics are different, he is not a Muslim in God’s register though we may consider him one…. The rulers here are in ‘mental apostasy’ for they too say Islam and politics are apart,” Geelani said addressing the gathering at a seminar on rising social immoralities.

The seminar was convened in the aftermath of a recent controversy surrounding the conversion of several Muslims to Christianity. It was held at Hyderpora headquarters of the conglomerate.

The veteran leader said the “rulers” make appearances at shrines to “befool people” while he for the first time directly questioned the “misuse” of the Wakaf property.

“They go to the shrines, at Hazratbal, Khanyar and other places, and behave like true believers while they are simultaneously promoting the liquor sale. And, people believe them, forget their realities,” they said.

“We have Wakaf board that receives crores of rupees in the form of donations for maintenance of the Islamic property. But the board is under control of the rulers who are providing base to the Indian rule in the state and the wealth (of Waaf board) is being used against Islam,” he said.

He accused the government of facilitating immoralities in the society.
“Only recently we heard the finance minister saying that the revenue out of the liquor sale doubled since last year. It shows the consumption of liquor has doubled,” he said.

“Our youths are being pushed towards immoralities. Young men and women are let free to roam in the public places without any policing,” he added.
The elderly separatist asserted that without Islam peace could not be established in the world.

“Islam is complete way of life. And, I assure you that until Islam is implemented there will be no peace in the world; there will be no end to atrocities; there will be no end to killings,” he asserted.
Castigating New Delhi for its “unrealistic policy”, he warned of “serious and dangerous” future for the South Asian region if Kashmir issue is not resolved.

“If India, under the influence of its military might, continues to remains adamant the entire region will have to face serious and dangerous implications. And, all blame goes to the unrealistic policy of India,” he said.

“We vow to continue our struggle for the establishment of Islamic system and live our lives,” he said.
