Jammu, March 03: The Opposition PDP in Jammu and Kashmir today moved two resolutions in the state assembly demanding withdrawal of security forces from civilian areas and repeal of the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA).
PDP’s Javed Mustafa Mir, who moved the resolution on withdrawal of security forces, said the law and order had improved in the state and, therefore, the role of the forces had been limited now.
The maintenance of law and order should be given to the police and the armed forces should be withdrawn, he said.
The resolution demanding repeal of AFSPA was moved by Nizam-ud-Din Bhat.
The discussions on both the resolutions remained inconclusive and would be resumed tomorrow.
