Hyderabad: The Telangana High Court dismissed the charges levelled against former MIM Corporator and present Congress leader Khaja Bilal Ahmed by Rachakonda police and ordered his release.
After the court orders, Khaja Bilal was released from Cherlapally Central Jail yesterday evening.
4 months ago, Rachakonda Police Commissioner Mahesh M Bhagwat had issued orders invoking the Preventive Detention Act against Khaja Bilal Ahmed. He was later sent to jail.
Khaja Bilal Ahmed moved to Telangana High Court against the orders. The matter was heard by Chief Justice TB Radha Krishnan and Justice Raj Shekhar Reddy.
According to sources, the high court during the hearing reprimanded the police and asked on what basis PD Act was invoked against Khaja Bilal, does he come under the PD Act?
It must be noted that the former MIM corporator was involved in 15 cases, including rioting and a murder case.
