Home Minister N Narsimhar Reddy today informed the Assembly that the government was trying to build a society that sans crimes and brutalities. PD Act will come into effect through the House soon to reduce the crime rate, he said. He stressed the need for PD Act to contain new crimes and related challenges.
During question hour in the House of Winter session, the Home Minister remarked that stringent action will be taken against criminals and use PD Act against cyber criminals and land grabbers. The State Government will not tolerate the crimes which are coming down in recent times, he claimed.
Stating that chain snatching incidents were reduced through PD Act, he said it is essential for reducing crimes in the State. The Home Minister clarified that the TRS Government brought in an ordinance for strengthening the PD Act in place of the previous PD Act in vogue from 1986. This ordinance will now become the Act through the House, the Home Minister said. (NSS)
