Kolkata, October 26: The West Bengal Police today alleged that the two missing policemen were abducted by the Maoist-backed PCPA from the Lalgarh region and claimed this has been admitted by the arrested bodyguard of its leader Chhatradhar Mahato.
Director General of Police Bhupinder Singh claimed Papan Mondal, arrested bodyguard of Mahato, now in judicial custody, told the police during interrogation a month back that Kanchan Gorai, ASI, and Shabir Ali Molla, constable, were abducted by PCPA activists.
It was not yet known as to where the two abducted policemen were while Mahato pleaded ignorance about their whereabouts, the DGP said.
The state government has launched a massive search operation to trace the two policemen as Chief Minister Buddhadev Bhattacharjee promised all steps to find them out.
