Hyderabad, April 04: Pradesh Congress Committee president D Srinivas yesterday directed the district Congress committee presidents to undertake field visits and complete collection of feedback on implementation of schemes by covering two or three mandals by April 10.
He wanted them to send the report along with photographs to the PCC by April 13. “Loopholes or lapses, if any, in implementation of the schemes and programmes will be brought to the government’s notice for rectification,” he noted.
Some ministers (rural development and NREGS minister D Manikya Vara Prasad and primary education minister S Sailajanath), members and conveners of five PCC monitoring committees on rural development/ urban development/agriculture, irrigation and electricity/public health, social welfare and Arogyasri/education and DCC presidents attended the meeting convened by Srinivas at Gandhi Bhavan today.
Talking to newsmen after the meeting, the PCC chief made it clear that the party’s monitoring committees were not parallel to the government’s departments concerned but would work in coordination with the department officials concerned for effective implementation of the schemes.
The feedback collected by the committees would be taken to the notice of the officials concerned. Besides having awareness on implementation of various programmes/schemes of the government, the committee members concerned would also interact with the local people to collect feedback on programmes and schemes implementation. The ministers concerned had assured to extend cooperation to the committees for the purpose, he added.
Replying to queries, the PCC president asserted that a majority of the members, who were in the city and had conveyance, attended the meeting.
“The Congress is strong enough to implement its flagship programmes in all the areas (which include the segments where supporters of former Kadapa MP Jagan Mohan Reddy are in strength) across the state.”
It is learnt that senior party leader from Kurnool Raghurami Reddy, while welcoming the party’s initiative to have discussions on implementation of the schemes, urged the PCC president also to hold meetings to discuss selection of candidates to contest elections. In reply, Srinivas said it was not the occasion to discuss the issue raised by Reddy.
Manikya Vara Prasad urged the party workers to concentrate on schemes being implemented by the government and ensure its proper implementation.
