PCC chief leaves for Delhi today

Hyderabad, April 08: PCC president D Srinivas’ two-day visit to Delhi from Sunday assumes political significance in view of the Kadapa bypolls and disciplinary action pending against MLAs loyal to YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. He will meet party president Sonia Gandhi on Monday and and in-charge of state Congress affairs Ghulam Nabi Azad.

Show-cause notices were slapped on Konda Surekha (Parkal), G Srikanth Reddy (Rayachoti), C Adinarayana Reddy (Jammalamadugu) and A Amarnath Reddy (Rajampet) on April 21 and gave them a week’s time to explain why action should not be taken against them. The Congress Legislature Party (CLP) had submitted petitions to deputy speaker Nadendla Manohar seeking disqualification of the four MLAs, who, in turn, served notices to the four, giving them a week’s time to respond.

Two of them have replied denying that they indulged in “anti-party activities”.

The third, Adinarayana Reddy, has sought more time to reply while the fourth, Amarnath Reddy, has received the notice only recently.

Srinivas will hand over the video and paper clippings on the rebel MLAs’ “anti-party activities” to the Congress president. CM N Kiran Kumar Reddy met Sonia Gandhi and briefed her 0n the measures taken by the party in respect of the bypolls.
