Lahore, November 20: The participation of Pakistani players in the third edition of the IPL seemed to be in jeopardy after Sports Minister Aftab Shah Jilani said the PCB is ”yet to seek any government clearance” for the cricketers.
Jilani said the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is yet to approach the government for its clearance even though the Indian Premier League (IPL) organisers’ deadline for Pakistani players expires today.
The IPL organisers had set today as the deadline for the Pakistani players to submit government NOCs. ”We will only be able to arrange for the clearance once the PCB asks for it,” said Jilani. ”The Board is yet to even apply for a clearance for the players, who are planning to take part in the IPL,” he added.
Many leading Pakistani players are hoping to feature in the IPL season three to be held next year in India after missing this year’s season because of strained Indo-Pak relations.
