PCB boss confirms Zimbabwe will tour Pak as per schedule

Amidst persisting confusion surrounding the upcoming Zimbabwe tour of Pakistan, PCB chairman Shahryar Khan has clarified on Friday that the proposed tour will be held as per schedule.

Shahryar said that the Zimbabwe team will be arriving Pakistan on Tuesday to play three One-Day Internationals and two Twenty20 International matches, and the board has received a green signal from the government, the Express Tribune reported.

Zimbabwe Cricket had initially released a statement saying that a decision had been reached to not tour on the advice of their Sports Recreation Commission. However, the statement was later withdrawn and ZC spokesman Lovemore Banda said that ‘discussions are still going on’.

Banda added that the board couldn’t send the team to Pakistan without security clearance from the government.

Earlier, reports have emerged that Zimbabwe’s authorities were assessing the security situation in Pakistan after 45 people died in a terrorist attack in Karachi on Wednesday.

Zimbabwe will become the first ICC team to visit Pakistan since March 2009, when the Sri Lankan team was attacked in Lahore. (ANI)
