PCB to be richer by $3m from Aussie series

Leeds, July 22: Pakistan’s home series against Australia might have been played at a neutral venue, but the PCB is expecting to earn over three million dollars of net profit from the ongoing series in England.

According to a PCB official, who is here to make necessary arrangements for the successful hosting of the series, the board is expecting an income of around five million dollars and three million dollar profit from the series and of whick a major portion will be from the sale of television rights.

”Since we have now reached the last stage of the series and it is more or less clear how much we could earn for arranging home series in England. According to estimates, the PCB will get richer by three million dollars,” the official said. ”We get the major amount from the sale of TV rights. The second biggest earning will be from the sale of tickets,” he added.

However, the series has not been an ultimate success for the marketing department, but the ground and other minor earnings also managed to become a part of the overall earning. ”We have never expected to generate any big amount from the sale of hoardings,” the official revealed.

According to the official, all the details about the financial gains will be finalised with the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB), within 20 days of the conclusion of the series. ”It will take us another three weeks to give you the exact position of the income. However, the final figures will be more or less than the same,” the official added.

Test matches have hardly met with success in Pakistan where the crowds are rarely fond of watching the five-day games at the ground. ”Even in the best of series in Pakistan like the one against India, earning profit is not all that easy. Here, however, one thing is certain that the series will run in profit.” Meanwhile, it has been learnt that the PCB is contemplating the idea of organising future Test series in England rather than on any other neutral venue.
