PCA to build modern stadium near Chandigarh

Mohali, February 07: The Punjab Cricket Association (PCA) plans to build an ultra modern cricket stadium with latest technology and adequate parking facility at Mullanpur, near Chandigarh.

PCA treasurer Viswajeet Khanna informed the executive committee, which met here under the chairmanship of its president Inderjeet Singh Bindra, about the acquisition of 44 acres of free hold land at Mullanpur Development Scheme, approximately 2-3 kms from the outskirts of Chandigarh, alongside the 450 feet wide proposed four way-lane Highway. PCA Secretary M P Pandove informed the members about the plans of the association to build an ultra modern cricket stadium with latest technology which would have adequate parking facility.

He said that the new stadia would have two grounds for matches and practice and also state of the art cricket academy of stature which would attract trainees from associate and affiliated members of the ICC under the programme of globlisation of cricket.

He stated that the new stadium and the academy would be built by using the latest infrastructure technology and equipment. It would promote sports tourism and would be a destination for the learners of the game.

The members appreciated the plan and approved the same in principle.
