PC Will Distribute Copies Of Report To Parties On Jan 6: DS

Hyderabad, January 03: The PCC Chief, Mr D Srinivas, has opined that the Union Home Minister, Mr P Chidambaram, would distribute copies of the Justice B N Srikrishna Committee report to the all recognized political parties and nothing more would happen on January 6. He said that the Centre has to study the Committee report first. However, the Centre would spare no efforts to find a lasting solution to the knotty Telangana issue, he added.

In an informal chat with journalists at Gandhi Bhavan here on Monday, Mr Srinivas said that he doesn’t know about the leakage of the contents of the report by its members and opined that they may be their personal opinion.

Describing the TDP MLA, Mr Revanth Reddy’s argument as meaningless, Mr Srinivas said that the subject belongs to State and the issue was not related to the UPA Chairperson, Ms Sonia Gandhi. “Please, do not compare Ms Sonia Gandhi with a regional leader like Mr Nara Chandrababu Naidu”, he said, adding that whether Mr Chandrababu attends the January 6 meet at New Delhi or not depends on his interest. Asked whether he would also attend the meeting on behalf of the State party unit, Mr Srinivas maintained silence.

The PCC president revealed that Mr Chidambaram may announce dates on January 6 by handing over the copies of the report to all the eight recognized parties. He opined that the Union Home Minister invited the parties as was done last time and it was up to the parties whether to send single person or two. He also said that the question of boycotting the January 6 meeting was parties’ personal interest.

Responding to criticism on January 6 meeting from own party leaders, Mr Srinivas said that the party high command would decide whether to send a representative or not and the individuals have no right to say anything. He also said that the Congress was a national party and the high command decides everything.

Asked about the MP, Mr Kavuri Sambasiva Rao and the MLA, Mr Uttam Kumar Reddy meeting at his residence, Mr Srinivas said that they discussed about how to talk at January 6 meeting. Stating that the political parties have a right to express their opinions, Mr Srinivas appealed to the party leaders not to speak like rival party leaders. He said that the party leaders have to express their views at party forums or before the high command but should not divulge their opinions to the media. He said that the UPA has the responsibility of taking decision on the issue and hence the Congress party leaders have to maintain restraint on the issue. The caution was applicable to all leaders of the Congress party, he added.

Mr Srinivas said that appropriate action will be taken against the leaders who were going along with the former Congress MP, Mr Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, at appropriate time. He said that he would talk to all district leaders as usual as a PCC president.

Responding to Mr Jagan’s comments against the Congress party, Mr Srinivas exuded confidence that the Congress party would emerge a winner in both the State and at the Centre. He said that Mr Jagan has nothing to do with the Congress party as he has his own agenda.

When asked whether the Congress party would win in how many States, Mr Srinivas said that he cannot predict precisely. Mr Srinivas said that he will go to New Delhi on January 5 and will be available on January 6 to all.
