New Delhi, October 26: Taking a tough stand on growing Naxal hostility against the state, Home Minister P Chidambaram on Monday slammed Maoist sympathisers for supporting such acts of mindless violence.
In a strongly worded statement, Chidambaram said, “What is the motive behind the attack on a police force that provides security to NMDC? What is the message that the CPI (Maoist) intends to convey? These are questions that the government would like to put not only to the CPI (Maoist) but also to those who speak on their behalf and chastise the government.”
The statement added, “We think that it is time for all right-thinking citizens who believe in democracy and development to condemn the acts of violence perpetrated by the CPI (Maoist).”
The statement comes a day after the deadly attack on a Public Sector mineral company in Chhattisgarh in which four CISF personnel (one SI, one HC and two Constables) were killed and two constables were critically injured. The attack was a planned landmine blast in the mines area of National Minerals Development Corporation (NMDC) in Bacheli, Chhattisgarh.
