Pay compensation to dead Sikhs, BJP tells US

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Tuesday urged the US to pay compensation to Sikhs killed by a gunman in a gurdwara in Winconsin.

“The injured (should) be provided best medical facilities and compensation (should be paid) to the kith and kin of the killed,” BJP leader Vijay Jolly said in a communication to US envoy Nancy Powell.

Jolly, convenor of the BJP’s overseas affairs, demanded “adequate security” for all gurdwaras and Hindu temples in the US.

A lone gunman shot dead six people and injured four people, including a police officer, at the gurdwara Sunday. The killer, who was shot dead, has been identified as a former US Army soldier.
